Island fracas may affect tourism...

Submitted by admin on Fri, 2005-10-21 10:22.

I refer to the fracas which occurred at Rawa Island where a group of locals lead by a distant relative of the royal family of Johor gatecrashed and disturbed a private wedding party of a Brazilian couple.

This incident has besmirched the image of our nation as tourist destination and should be condemned by all. As the news has been flashed throughout the world, our tourist industry might suffer a backlash as a result of this black incident.

Muslims in this country must be embarrassed to hear that in the holy month of Ramadan where Muslims are taught to be more patient and understanding, the goons who attacked the tourists without provocation had been drunk and had gone on a rampage due to a small misunderstanding.

Let these lawbreakers face the full force of the law and hopefully the authorities will not close an eye on this case just because they are those of royal blood. Let this be as a lesson to others not to take the laws into their own hands.
