The Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC) celebrated the vision and boldness of these industry leaders in the Middle East for the past decade, those who have transformed the landscape and created one of the world's fastest growing regions, with hospitality investment the focus point.
Judges took into consideration investment, scale of the project, design, use of materials and innovation. Nominees for the best new hotel project were requested to name five of their strongest attributes and Raffles Dubai chose to emphasize its architecture, design, opulent suites, the pinnacle of the pyramid and the Raffles Botanical Garden.
Since the hotel opened in November last year, Raffles Dubai has become a new landmark in the city with its pre-eminent position on the Dubai landscape and its iconic pyramidal shape, taking inspiration from the great pyramids of Egypt.
Its interiors offer a treasure trove of ancient legends, exceptional artworks and design excellence, drawn from the heritage of three distinctive cultures: the traditional Middle-Eastern culture, the ancient Egypt history and the refined Asian culture. The luxury of space and design is evident in all 248 Suites: boasting palatial size and sheer opulence, each suite features a private balcony, which offers panoramic views across the city and dramatic interiors. Inspired by a fine blend of Middle Eastern and Asian touches, all suites offer an unparalleled level of comfort and luxury.
The ultimate extravagance resides at the peak of the pyramid, with four restaurants & bars, where guests can indulge in superb cuisine and creative cocktail inventions. Set in an unsurpassed location and offering spectacular panoramic views of the city with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on three floors, the pinnacle of the edifice represents the epitome of luxury chic.
At the heart of Raffles Dubai lies a luxuriant one hectare tropical garden. An unexpected feature for a hotel located in the centre of the city, Raffles Botanical Garden is inspired by Singapore's garden city landscape and offers 129,090 plants including the Traveller's Palm which has long been associated with the Raffles name.
Mr. Hagop Doghramadjian, General Manager of Raffles Dubai, commented: “We are extremely pleased with this award. It is a great tribute to the architectural design and elegance that Raffles is know for, and another prestigious recognition of Raffles Dubai's excellence”.
The New York Times, who praised the suites “space and comfort” while Time magazine applauded the hotel's “understated grandeur …heralding good taste within”. Raffles Dubai was also named one of the best new hotels in the world by both Condé Nast Traveler (US edition) and Condé Nast Traveller (UK edition) in this year's Hot Lists.
