New Makati BPO facility employs 1100...

"We are delighted to begin operations in the Philippines, which has attained a high level of visibility within the BPO industry in recent years for its exceptional talent pool and reputation for quality service delivery," said Larry Jones, president and CEO of StarTek.

"The Philippine government and the BPO community in the Philippines have made our entry into this market exceptionally smooth and welcoming," Jones said.

Oscar Sañez, CEO of the Business Processing Associations of the Philippines, said the entry of StarTek into the Philippines demonstrates the increasing attractiveness of the country to BPO service providers.

"One of the reasons we are viewed as a major offshoring and outsourcing center is the presence of industry heavyweights such as StarTek," Sanez said.

StarTek is currently building out its new 7,200 square-meter state-oftheart facility. Inside the fourstory building, which is located in the heart of Makati City, employees will have large work stations and conveniences such as 24/7 food service, themed pantry areas, and employee nap rooms.

Moreover, StarTek will host unique company events and initiatives to help employees achieve work-life balance and a healthy lifestyle, and new employees will help develop the culture from the ground-up within the new StarTek environment.

The company will undertake a number of recruitment initiatives in the coming months.

"Eventually, StarTek’s plan is to hire more than 1,000 Filipinos, which is an important contribution to continued industry development," said Lilia de Lima, director general of the Philippine Export Processing Zone Authority.

"I believe StarTek will also be an excellent corporate citizen on the strength of its extensive involvement in community programs where it already operates," De Lima said.

The Makati City facility is part of a larger expansion strategy to meet strong demand from new and existing clients.

"As the global communications industry continues to expand, StarTek is seeing strong demand for services delivered from both North America and the Philippines because of our positioning as a quality provider. Many of our clients and prospects are asking us for more capacity as soon as we can provide it," said Jones.

This year, StarTek has won several industry awards including the coveted Gold Medal for Best Community Spirit in the Americas for its "StarTek Cares" social responsibility program at the 2008 Contact Center World Awards.

It also received Highly Commended awards for Best Customer Service, Best Contact Center Leader, and Best Contact Center Supervisor. In March StarTek was awarded the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Award for Vertical Market Penetration Leadership.

Since 1987, StarTek has partnered with their clients to solve strategic business challenges, improve customer retention, increase revenue and reduce costs through an improved customer experience. Known for creating the highest customer service for clients and their customers, StarTek services include customer care, sales support, complex order processing, accounts receivable management, technical support and other industry-specific processes. Headquartered in Denver, Colo., StarTek operates 21 facilities in North America and one facility in the Philippines.
