A myriad of cultural shows featuring songs, dances and music were showcased, adding colour and festivity to the event.
Over 500 people turned out to witness the gala event which was launched by Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
During his speech Mohd Shafie said that each city of the world has got its own attractions. From monuments, historical sites as well as cultural centres - these places not only make a city vibrant, but also give it a sense of identity.
"That's why we decided to create these cultural hot spots and programmes to provide a place where people can come and see and enjoy Malaysia's multicultural society,'' Mohd Shafie said.
"It's also a platform to get the younger generation to indulge in healthy activities as well as promote solidarity and community spirit,'' he said.
Apart from KL, the ministry through its Culture and Arts Department will be launching similar hot spots in other states.
KL's cultural hot spots are located at Jalan Petaling, Lanai Warisan Seni Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Semarak Dataran at Dataran Merdeka, Semarak Kraf in Jalan Conlay, Semarak Bangsawan in Panggung Bandaraya, Semarak Seni Brickfields in KL Sentral, Semarak Seni Titiwangsa in Titiwangsa Lake and Semarak Pasar Seni at Central Market.
