With Warmer Weather, July Electric Sales up 6.3% over Last Year ......

Submitted by admin on Mon, 2008-08-11 19:22.

PECO said it delivered 4.05 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in July to its 1.6 million customers in the Greater Philadelphia region, up 6.3 percent over July 2007. Based on the National Weather Service's cooling degree index, July was 21 percent warmer than last year and 5.5 percent warmer than normal.

Warmer weather generally leads to higher utility bills for cooling appliances in the summer. Residential customers made up slightly more than one-third of the utility's monthly sales. On average, residential customers used more than 1,000 kwh of electricity in July. While monthly bills vary based upon billing cycle, weather and other factors, PECO said the average residential payment in July was about $158.

PECO said customers are advised to pay their bill on time. Those who do not pay their bill by the due date stated on the bill are considered past due. PECO urges any customer who may have trouble paying their bill to call the company at 1-800-494-4000 to review payment options and assistance programs. Customers who are behind in their utility bills should contact PECO to see if they are eligible for assistance in order to avoid collection activity and possible termination of service.

PECO's Web site, www.peco.com/ehome, provides payment options, including e-Billing, budget billing and automatic payment plans, credit or debit card payment, check-by-phone, and more than 300 payment agents across the region.

Based in Philadelphia, PECO is an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC ). PECO serves 1.6 million electric and 480,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania and employs about 2,500 people in the region. PECO delivered 78.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 39.9 billion kilowatt-hours-hours of electricity in 2007. Founded in 1881, PECO is one of the Greater Philadelphia Region's most active corporate citizens, providing leadership, volunteer and financial support to numerous arts and culture, education, environmental, economic development and community programs and organizations.
